What is...

What is culture? Culture is the historic values, norms and beliefs that are passed down from generation to generation. There are more than five-hundred different types of cultures in the world. Culture is part of the human social experience and we as human have different ways of responding to them. Some may respond in a ethnocentric point of view, while others may have the perspective of a person who is culturally relativistic. A person who is ethnocentric will judge a culture as being strange or wrong because of his or her own experiences or cultural beliefs. In other hand someone who is culturally relativistic enjoys and respects a culture, they appreciate and try to learn the different values and beliefs every culture has to offer. In my blog I’m going to focus on the topic of ethnocentrism; the ideal of judging others based on own experiences and personal beliefs.
